…is not my favorite holiday. Not even close.

In fact, it ranks below almost all of them in my book—except Valentine’s Day.

However, that doesn’t say much, since compared with the average person I have a higher-than-normal love for holidays, birthdays, and celebrations in general. (This is so obvious that even my Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment picked up on it. Weird.)

I’ve been a lot of things over the years, including a man (thanks Mom and Dad for taking advantage of your three-year-old), a bunny, a witch, a pirate, an artist, a Mexican (how un-PC), Wendy of Peter Pan, etc. etc. Group costumes, however, are best.

Contestants from the Price is Right (that link is to the Entertainment Weekly contest Facebook page, where we’re entered, naturally). The Founding Fathers. This year—fast food characters. Pictures, I promise, to come.

That’s not to say, however, that I don’t love to dress up. Somehow the average theme or costume party is more amusing to me than Halloween itself. I hate scary things, which is probably why.

Because I miss college and excuses to dress up almost every weekend, because I have no shame, because it’s a boring old Wednesday, because Halloween is 10 days away, because I can’t stop eating 3 Musketeers bars….enjoy.

Sigh. Costumes make everything a lot more fun, don’t they? (I enjoy that in those last three, I’m making identical facial expressions in three separate years.)
