Retro dating advice

January 26, 2010

Thanks CG for this video which taught me some excellent dating pointers.

1. Good topics of conversation include an interesting book title, a small stuffed animal, interesting pieces of jewelry, a pet, a sports jersey, a sports magazine, or a t-shirt with a slogan (ahhhh graphic tee!!!).

2. “What do I have to lose at this point? A rerun of Dallas and a pint of icecream?” Does this woman read my blog!? A rerun of How I Met Your Mother and some CAKE BALLS?

3. “Some women in my workshop have even gone so far as to spill a drink on a man, and to get his phone number by promising to pay for his dry cleaning. But you don’t want to spill red wine, because you don’t want him to remember you for the wrong reasons.” Like because you gave him a reusable bag (why did that come up twice already today?).

4. “It’s not what you say, but how you say it when it comes to flirting. One way to draw men closer to you is to speak in a low voice, so they have to lean closer to hear what you have to say. Whispering when others are around makes you both feel as if you’re sharing in a secret.” (Have these women tried the C.O.U.R.T.N.E.Y. system!? Her biggest move is whispering into people’s mouths. Works like a charm.)

5. “I suggest you tell a man it really turns you on when he talks about his feelings.” I’m going to have to go with a big falsey false on that one.
