Punxsutawney Phil, you are so rude!

February 2, 2010

So obviously, because the thing always sees its shadow; they do this ritual in the dark at like, 5 a.m., so I seriously question the validity of this “shadow;” and as it snowed on Saturday and is supposed to snow like 4 more times this week—Punxsutawney Phil saw his darn shadow and we have six more weeks of winter.

My favorite are the story highlights from the sidebar at CNN:

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Punxsutawney Phil comes out of hole, sees his shadow
  • Prognosticating groundhog signals six more weeks of winter
  • Phil is correct 39 percent of the time, CNN meteorologist says
  • But National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says Phil has “no predictive skill”

OK, I’m glad NOAA recognizes that a groundhog leaving his hole on February 2 carries no real merit. Thanks?

As Courtney pointed out yesterday, when I did my usual complaining about not being able to meet any boys: “It’s winter. All the cute boys are hibernating.”

I must agree. CK points out that in winter (1) cute boys aren’t likely to leave the house, and (2) cute boys might not look so cute, because they are pale and wear questionable choices of clothing, such as big sweaters, argyle, and flannel. Someone who would look absolutely adorable in a polo, sunglasses, and a tan might look not so much their best in ghostly white and an interesting sweater. Give wool a chance.

So screw you, Phil, I can now blame you for my single status. And for guaranteeing that the cute boys stay dormant for 6 more weeks.

via CNN. I love the scroll, don't you?

Aww, poor Phil! Think of it from his perspective. Poor little guy gets pulled out of his nice warm burrow (do Groundhogs sleep in burrows??) at 5AM every February 2nd! TGHEN if he sees his shadow people get pissed at him. Poor little guy.

As for the cute guys in winter, they’re out and about. :o) Go cehck out the slopes! Sounds like with the 6 extra weeks of winter you’ll have plenty of opportunity.

PS- I love your blgo! So cute!
