Turkey and stuffing in the slow cooker

I would have photographed this recipe for you, but…I didn’t. It’s a habit I’m getting into lately, and I know food posts aren’t really that engaging without photos, so I’ll try harder, dear readers.

But, I should still tell you how easy it is to cook yourself turkey and stuffing in the crock pot so that when you drive home from class at 8 p.m. in the snow, it’s like you live with a magical fairy who cooked for you while you were gone.

And it’s really easy.

Slow Cooker Turkey and Stuffing

  • 2-2.5 pound turkey breast half, rinsed and patted dry
  • 1 box of Stovetop Stuffing
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 heaping tablespoon apple jelly
  • salt and pepper

In a pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, and add the onion. Cook a few minutes or until it’s soft and beginning to brown. Add in the heaping tablespoon of apple jelly, and stir until it melts and forms a glaze. Remove from heat.

Spray the bottom and sides of the slow cooker with nonstick spray. Pour the packet of stuffing in bottom, sprinkle with the water, and mix gently to combine. Place turkey seasoned with salt and pepper on stuffing, and spread onion glaze on top. Cook for about 5-6 hours or until the little button in the turkey pops up.
