Girl Power

Is it strange that I feel kinda “you go girl” woman powerish in the wake of Kathryn Bigelow’s sweep last night? Not only is she the first woman ever to win in the Best Director category, but the whole yeah yeah what what Avatar IN YOUR FACE vibe is pretty awesome to me. I said it here a month ago, how much I detested what Avatar represents, and I’m so glad that The Hurt Locker prevailed.

“There’s no other way to describe it, it’s the moment of a lifetime,” Kathryn said when accepting the Oscar.

This just proves money isn’t everything. Flashy effects aren’t everything. Sometimes it’s just about emotional performances, good stories, and excellent acting/directing (of real people and not computers). Yay!
