Bind me — I can still sing

May 26, 2010

My pen pal and I love to exchange lyrics, quotes, poems, and other inspirational things in our letters. In my last letter I had described the loss of my singing voice because of vocal nodes, callous-like areas on the chords which effectively end all singing, forever. She included this Emily Dickinson poem in her last letter:

Bind me — I can still sing

Bind me — I still can sing —
Banish — my mandolin
Strikes true within —

Slay — and my Soul shall rise
Chanting to Paradise —
Still thine.

I love that so much.

Bind me — I can still sing.
